Extract from a 16 mm film from our vintage collection, With some very rare footage of Skopje and Ohrid. It was commissioned by the Yugoslav National Tourism Office in 1975. At the time Yugoslavia was a major tourist destinations for western tourists.
Most of the visitors to Macedonia came from the Netherlands. They were particularly fond of the marvellous city of Ohrid and its surroundings, inspired by the Dutch writer and journalist with the pseudonym A. den Doolaard and his love for Macedonia, going back to the 1930s.
There's a monument, honouring A.den Dolard in Ohrid today and a square in town is named after him.
